Gheorghe Mureșan

With the hilarious height of 7 feet 7 inches, Gheorghe Mureșan is the tallest basket player of all time.  To the basketball lover, he is also known as "Ghiță".

The veteran Romanian basketball player was born on February 14, 1971, in Tritenii de Jos, Cluj County, Romania.  Although his parents were normal height persons, Mureșan grew with remarkable height due to the pituitary gland disorder.

Mureșan played in the NBA league from 1993 to 2000 showing signs of a promising career but was spoiled by injuries. His best season was in the 1995–1996 campaign, when he gained 14.5 points average per game.

ManuteBol was a Sudanese born basketball player as well as a political activist. He has 7 feet 6-inch height and is the second tallest basketball player of all time. He was born on October 16, 1962, in Sudan. Unlike Gheorghe, Bol came from a family where everyone has extraordinary height.

At an early stage of his career, he started playing soccer but abandoned the game because of his huge height. Then, during his later teens, he started playing basketball.  Throughout his career, he played for two colleges and four NBA teams.

Bol was very active in charity and devoted to the war-ravaged nation of his birth land Sudan. According to his statement, he spent a great portion of his money he made during a 10-year NBA career supporting his country’s people.

  • Shawn Paul Bradley

Shawn Paul Bradley is a retired American Basketball player. He was born on March 22, 1972, in Landstuhl, West Germany and grew up in Castle Dale, Utah.  With 7 feet 6-inch height Bradley is the third tallest basketball players in our list.

At the beginning of his playing career, Bradley played for Emery High School from 1987 to 1990. There he was one of the most successful basketball players in the history of Utah high school. He finished his career there with the averages of 20.3 points.

Bradley played for the Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Nets, and Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association. Internationally Bradley competed as a team member for German National Basketball team. In 2001 his team finished in fourth place at the Euro Basket held in Turkey.

  • Yao Ming

In general, Chinese inhabitants are short in height.  But, in spite of being Chinese, Mr. Yao Ming got a place in the tallest basketball players with 7 feet 6-inch height.  The player was born on September 12, 1980, in Shanghai.

Yao started his career by playing for the Shanghai Sharks as a teenager.  Later, he played on their senior teams for five years under Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). In his final year, he also won the championship.

On July 20, 2011, Yao Ming announced his retirement in a press conference in Shanghai. By that time, he was physically unable to keep playing. He was suffering injuries to his foot and ankle, with the third fracture to his left foot sustained.

  • Sim Bhullar

Sim Bhullar was a Canadian professional basketball player and the first player of Indian descent to play in the NBA.  He was born on December 2, 1992, and grew up in Brampton. With the height of 7 feet 5-inch, he secured his place in the list of tallest basketball players in the history.

At the FIBA America’s under 18 tournaments in 2010, Bhullar impressed the audience and coaches with his height and excellent performance.

During his college career, Bhullar committed to play for Xavier University in Cincinnati. But, later he failed to be on his commitment and started playing for the New Mexico State Aggies. He left Xavier University because he realized that he was not capable to immediately play and bear the full $42,000 yearly tuition fees.
